NYFW And Grrly Grrls by Rory Knettles
2020’s New York Fashion Week (NYFW) is in full swing and I’m here to assess the trends I’ve seen thus far and help you bring the runway into your home with some stand out pieces from Grrly Grrls. We’ve seen runways from Anna Sui, Burberry, Jason Wu and many others. Here are my top three common themes in the collections shown so far.
1. Patchwork
Echhaus Latta and Thornston Bregazzi have included patchworked fabrics in their designs. Muted colors and floral prints make these pieces perfect for any season. This will be a massive trend this year in casual wear as well so grab yourself a pair of patchwork denims to go with a white button down for fall.
2. Corsets
Richard Malone and Matty Bovan have included a corset-type bodice on their pieces. It creates a more elegant look for your outfit and draws attention to the top of your body, elongating your look. Try a t-shirt dress with a corset and you’ll be set.
3. BIllowed Sleeves
Zimmerman and Ulla Johnson have perfected the art of a billowed sleeve. This shape accentuates the shoulder giving you a powerful and feminine look. Perfect with a mini skirt or a pair of light wash denim, grab yourself a top with this sleeve and you’ll be feeling confident.
Although not included in this list, my favorite clothing item this year is a face mask. Make sure to stay socially distanced and wear your masks in public so we can stop the spread of Covid-19.
