When Should You Wear a Mini

When Should You Wear a Mini

Have you ever wondered who invented the mini skirt? Well, I did and so I decided to do some research. The miniskirt was first patented in London by André Courrèges in 1964. His design was a revolutionary new look for women with its full length hemline, which was three inches above the knee at that time. This style is still popular today- not surprising considering how comfortable it is!

In the 1960's, when women were fighting for equal rights and a space in the workforce, fashion designer Mary Quant created something that would change history. The mini skirt was first seen on Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" but it wasn't until later that year when it became popularized by Quant herself. It may have been short but this skirt represented something big-women could do anything men could do! No longer would they be confined to long skirts or dresses; they now had more freedom to move around and live their lives as freely as men did. After all, isn't that what feminism is about? Having choices? We should all thank Mary Quant for giving us those options 50 years ago because without her we wouldn't have this garment.

The mini skirt is a staple in every girl's wardrobe and for good reason. It's cute, flirty and can be worn with anything! So today we're going to take a look at the history of the mini skirt and how it became such an iconic piece of clothing.

For many women, the mini dress is their go-to for summertime outings. But who was it that first introduced this feminine garment to the world? The short answer: Christian Dior. He designed what he called his "new look" in 1947 and featured a fitted bodice with an A-line skirt that fell just below the knee. His intention was to create a more youthful silhouette than had been seen before, which would keep women looking chic well into middle age!

Have you ever wondered what type of mini dresses are out there? There are so many different types! Today I am going to cover 4 types that are trending right now.

-Pleated Dress: These dresses have pleats on the front and back, they usually fall just below the knee. -A-Line Mini Dress: This dress is very similar to a maxi dress but it has an A-line skirt which falls at or near the knee. It can be found in various lengths depending on your preference. The hemline can either be straight across or flared outwards, giving it more volume than other styles of mini dresses. -Ruffle Mini Dress: Ruffle minis look great when paired with flats.

In conclusion, you should wear a mini skirt or dress if it is appropriate for the occasion. If you are going to a formal event, then don't do it! You will want something more conservative and classy. However, if your attire is not too fancy but still nice enough for where you're headed (a party with friends), go ahead and rock that miniskirt without worry of what other people think about how short your hemline may be!
