These Shoes Were Made For Strutting by Sierra Carroll
The Winter is here! Everyone knows that once the weather starts to drop, it’s time to pull out your favorite winter shoes.
Typically, when people think of winter shoes, they think of boots or heavy shoes, but after watching the Fall/Winter 2020/2021 fashion week shows, we see that it couldn’t be further from the truth. Any shoe can be a Winter shoe if you make it!
There were many unique trends at the Fall/Winter 2020/2021 shows that you you are al ready seeing here at Grrly Grrls. The top trends that we saw from the Fall/Winter fashion weeks were:
Over the Knee Boots
Originally invented for horse riding in the 15th century, now in the modern day, over the knee boots have become a winter classic. These boots provide the protection needed from the harsh winter weather, in a stylish way. Jacquemus gave us their twist on the over the knee boot, with a simple, nude suede style, similar to our Suede Over the Knee Boots.
Shoes with Chain Accents
Shoe accents have gone in and out of style since the 1990’s, but they officially came back in the late 2010’s. Accents like chains really personalize a shoe, and we love what Off-White, Adeam and N°21 did with gold chain accents in their collections, similar to our Super Stiletto Chain Strap Pumps.
Colorful Boots
Colorful boots are a perfect way to make a statement, and many fashion powerhouses like Alberta Ferretti, Oscar de la Renta and Roksanda debuted colorful shoewear in their Fall/Winter collections. Our Lace Up Suede Thigh High Boots are a great replica of the attractive, red and suede Oscar de la Renta boots we saw.
Chunky 90s Style Platforms
The 90’s are all about the platforms, and these shoes have been a hit with the younger generation. Rochas debuted chunky white platforms, like our Winter High Platform Boots, and R13 took it 30 years back, with some classic combat boots, similar to our Metal Buckle Block Boots.
Shoe and Sock Combinations
With another throwback to the 90’s, sock and heel combinations have been a hit again within the last few years. Tom Ford did their own twist on this trend in their Fall/Winter collection, by combining metallic heels like our Thin Heeled Sandals, with a pair of white ankle socks.
Fancy Heels
Fancy heels are perfect for any winter party. Versace served looks with their silver rhinestone heels, like our Rhinestone Encrusted Genuine Leather Heels, which they paired with a metallic dress. Y/Project switched up the classic black heel by adding pearl accents around the ankle, like our Elegant Pearl Chain Boots.
Fur Ball Heels
Fur accented shoes have skyrocketed in the last couple of years, and it looks like they’re here to stay. Altuzarra and Simone Rocha debuted fur accented loafers in their Fall/Winter collections, similar to our Fur Ball Slip On Loafers, which are perfect for those lazy days around the house.
